INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAMME HELSINKI

The Infrastrucure Programme Helsinki is a comprehensive programme consisting of three projects aimed at designing and building the future urban environment in the areas of West, Northeast, and North Helsinki, as well as in the city centre.

In the first phase of the programme, the West-Helsinki Light Rail project will be planned and implemented. The West Harbour Light Rail and Viikki–Malmi Light Rail projects will be planned and implemented as part of the programme, if the necessary implementation decisions are made.

Our goal is to implement the world’s best and most sustainable urban development.

PROJECTS

WEST-HELSINKI LIGHT RAIL

Tram line 14 will run from the city centre to Kannelmäki in the early 2030s. Huopalahdentie and Vihdintie will be transformed into urban boulevard streets in the future

WEST HARBOUR LIGHT RAIL

The renovation of the tramway and the extension of the stops will serve the light rail traffic between Hakaniemi and West Harbour.

VIIKKI-MALMI LIGHT RAIL

The new light rail will connect the Kumpula campus, Viikki Science Park, and Malmi Hospital, while also improving bicycle path connections.
