About Infrastructure Programme Helsinki

What is Infrastructure Programme Helsinki?

Infrastructure Programme Helsinki is a comprehensive programme consisting of three projects where the future urban environment is planned and built in Western, Northeastern, and Northern Helsinki as well as in the city centre.

In the first phase of the programme, the West-Helsinki Light Rail project is designed and implemented. The West Harbour Light Rail and the Viikki–Malmi Light Rail projects are designed and implemented as part of the programme, if the city council makes implementation decisions on these during 2025.

Our goal is to achieve the world’s best and most sustainable urban development.

Benefits

The programme brings synergy benefits to the implementation of urban development projects, enabling, among other things, the synchronization of simultaneous project implementations, the allocation of expertise to different projects according to their needs, and the continuous development of value creation (cost efficiency, quality, goal achievement).

Infrastructure Programme Helsinki addresses the needs of a growing city by utilising the opportunities for cooperation and synergy benefits. Tram projects are never just tram projects; they also create other urban infrastructure.

Determination towards continuous improvement and learning from previous projects guides Infrastructure Programme towards the vision of the world’s best and most sustainable urban development.
